About & Methods
XCReport covers Washington State high school cross country, starting with the Spokane region and expanding season by season. It's an independent project, not affiliated with WIAA, the GSL, or any school district.
Data sources
Results are sourced from meet postings on Athletic.net, which is itself sourced from meet officials and coaches. Every meet page on this site links back to the original Athletic.net results as its source.
Speed ratings
Course conditions and race-day weather make raw times hard to compare across meets. Speed Ratings adjust for that: each race gets a correction (how much faster or slower it ran than a standard race), and Speed Rating = (1560 − time in seconds − that correction) ÷ 3. The correction itself is estimated two independent ways — comparing runners a race shares with earlier races, and each runner's own established rating — and blended. It's an estimate, not a certified result, and it firms up as more races and more history accumulate.
Corrections
Found an error — a wrong time, the wrong school, a misspelled name, a course correction that looks off? Email corrections@xcreport.com with the meet and what's wrong, and it'll get fixed.
