Saturday Sweep: Coeur d'Alene, West Valley, and Ridgeline Own the Big Week

A busy mid-September Saturday put three meets on deck — Melon Fest, the Barbero Border Clash, and the Timberlake Invitational — with the Seaport Invite closing out the week a few days earlier. Three teams answered with statement days.

Coeur d'Alene runs the table at Timberlake

The Vikings swept both varsity races at home. The boys' race was the weekend's showcase: Gonzaga Prep's Miro Parr-Coffin ripped 15:03.63, the fastest time of the day, ahead of Coeur d'Alene's Wyatt Morgenstern (15:09.70) and Rowan Henry (15:36.52), while Coeur d'Alene took the team title (35) over Gonzaga Prep (85). The girls' side echoed the sweep behind home-course winner Lola Eggleston (18:35.51) as the Vikings beat Sandpoint, 40–70.

West Valley (Yakima) and Mt. Spokane split Melon Fest

West Valley (Yakima) took the girls varsity (28) and boys JV (25) crowns, with Callie Orcutt winning the girls' race in 19:04.68 in front of teammate Vera Attig. Mt. Spokane answered in the boys varsity (29), edging Hermiston — whose Leroy Lozano Mejia won individually in 15:28.01 — and Kennewick's Asher Downey (15:55.70).

Ridgeline doubles at the Barbero Border Clash

Sporting its correct September date for the first time, Ridgeline swept the elite races, taking the boys' Dave McCarty Elite (49) and girls' Annette Hand Peters Elite (46). Eastmont's Cade Hill (15:29.00) won the boys' race; Richland's Jett Hansen (19:11.40) took the girls'.
